Geography - A Sample Course of Instruction

Course Description - local community college
The course introduces students to major regions of the world. Special emphasis will be given to environmental, political and economic conditions, as well as social and cultural characteristics of selected countries. Introduction to mapping and other geography-related skills will be covered, as well as utilization of the national geography standards in practical applications. Students are encouraged to become involved in geographic education, computer mapping, telecommunications, multimedia presentations and special interest projects as time and interest permit. Several field trips are planned to local sites of geographic interest. The WWW will be used for supplemental projects.
