My wife, Linda Simnitt Nelson, and I are both classroom teachers. Linda teaches 7th grade English at Irving Middle School. Visit Linda's School District on the WWW or her college Alma Mater, Hastings College, if you wish.

I've taught World Regional Geography at Southeast Community College, on the Lincoln campuses. Visit my university Alma Mater, the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL) or read about some of my recent classes. I've worked for the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, Omaha Public Works Street Maintenance Division and taught at Doane College, Lincoln campus. Substitute teaching in several school districts also keeps me busy. While the Webmaster was away (2002), I'm maintained some files on a website in Australia.

What we like to Do



Experience life with our families and friends.

Travel blue highways in Nebraska, along the Oregon Trail, in OZ, NZ & other places.

Camp, hike and bike wherever and whenever possible. Take a few photos.

Cook and eat good food, including Thomas Jefferson's Chicken Marengo.

Listen to good music : Classical, jazz, 50s-80s rock and roll.

Read good books, write short stories (USSR 1975).

Work with our colleagues on curriculum and field trips.

Watch silent films such as The Loney Villa or modern movies such as Schindler's List.

Support alternative energy; we make our own photovoltaic [PV] electricity !

Become involved in a region's geography, history and culture.

What we don't like

Smoke filled rooms.

Phoney people.

Insane merging of multi-national corporations, loss of local economic control,
       decline of rural communities.

Body parts/bodily function jokes.

Lame excuses for not spending money on education or services.

Highly overpaid "entertainers" who don't measure up to Danny Kaye's talent,
       humanity, honesty & humor.
